A Bit About Me

I’m Annie! I’m a huge Tolkien nerd, Community enthusiast, museum wanderer and D&D amateur.

Calgary Artist & Printmaker

I’m a Calgary based artist and printmaker creating small-run relief prints inspired by nature, changing seasons, folklore, magic, and the small mysteries of everyday life.

Traditional relief printing holds a balance of intention and unpredictability. I can start with a clear idea of where I’m going and still end up somewhere unexpected. The finished print carries evidence of the process that made it; the variations and imperfections are exactly what make each print feel special.

The Work

My practice centers primarily around relief printmaking techniques. My prints are made to be lived with: collected over time, tucked into a frame, given as a gift, or simply enjoyed because they made you smile.

Made by Hand

Every print begins in my studio, (or really, my kitchen table.)

I draw and carve the printing block, apply ink, and pull each print by hand. Depending on the piece, I may work through multiple blocks, layers, or colours to build the final image.

Because the process is physical and each impression is handled individually, no two prints are exactly alike. Small differences in ink, pressure, registration, and texture are part of the character of handmade printmaking rather than imperfections to be eliminated. I’m here for human-made art.

A Creative Life

My art practice is part of a larger interest in creativity and making a life around the things that matter to us.

Through my journal, I write about the studio, creative practice, inspiration, things I’m learning, and the everyday thoughts and observations that find their way into my art. Sometimes that means talking about a print I’m making; sometimes it means following an idea down a rabbit hole — like trying indigo dyeing for the first time, hand-making paper, visiting an art museum on my travels, or sharing the things I’ve come across that have inspired me.

I’m all about the slower side of creativity, which means this creative life is a slow burn, but I’m here for it. Sometimes the experimenting & exploring is the interesting part.

Calgary Living

I’m based in Calgary, Alberta, where I create and print from home.

My prints are available through my online shop, with new prints and occasional special projects released throughout the year.

As a part-time artist and passionate creative, any little bit of connection means a lot to me. Whether you leave a comment on a journal entry, say hello on Instagram, or simply follow along with what I’m making, I’m grateful to have you here and will most certainly engage right back!
